One of the first things my mom and I did was visiting the Han River. We didn’t really have a plan - basically we took out a map of the city and chose a subway station that was near our hotel and also along the river. This turned out to be Oksu station! We were kind of confused when we got out of the station, because we knew the river was ahead of us but we just couldn’t see it. We did discover a nice park on the hillside that overlooked the river though. It was drizzling just a bit. If you climb a bit of stairs to the top, there is an exercise area with a badminton court!
DALMAJIBONG PARK (달맞이봉곤원)
Once we climbed to the top of the park, we were still convinced there had to be some way to get down to the river. With our knowledge of kdramas and from reading tour books, we knew that there was a trail that went along the entire river, so there must be some way to get down. After a few minutes of random walking and exploring, we finally got to the base of the river! There was a nice exercise area below the highway and many ahjummas and ahjussis were using the park equipment to work out~ I went running 2 miles.
HAN RIVER
(We also went to the Han River another morning during our trip so I have photos from that day as well!)
IDAE AND EWHA WOMANS UNIVERSITY
I forget if this is the same day, but later we went to the Idae/Sinchon area to shop a bit and see Ewha Womans University which had pretty cool architecture.

On this trip we also ate some delicious dakgalbi (닭갈비) at a very famous restaurant Yoogane. Dakgalbi is a dish that is cooked right before your eyes on a sizzling hot plate - spicy marinated chicken stir-fried with cabbage and rice! Mom and I added ddeokbokki (떡볶이) with our order too, which is Korean rice cakes. They are light and chewy! I loved this meal so much! My favorite kind of rice is rice that is grilled so it is crispy :) Also, you get to wear these cute little aprons to protect your clothes from the spicy sauce!
More on Seoul soon!
